We Are Invisible - Tom, 18, Brixton

I am feeling trepidation at the prospect of an indoor summer.

My A’levels are gone, my tennis is gone. My plans for a holiday with my friends are likely gone, I don’t know what the future holds and that concerns me.

I am on the phone all the time. I need to keep in touch with my friends. We need to talk.

My friends and I talk about coronavirus all the time. But our views are not on the news… we are invisible.

All these decisions have been made about our exams and how our A’levels will be calculated but no one consulted us. No one asked us what we wanted, what would be just, what would be right… No one. Not one person.

I am annoyed that I have to stay inside, I miss my friends but we have to stay indoors. We have to respect lockdown. Period. It just has to be done. So, I am staying indoors and if my parents don’t respect the 2 metre gap - like when they are clapping on the doorstep for NHS and too close to the neighbours - I tell them. Social distancing has just got to be done.
