Everything Is Changing - Anna , 11, London
The Friday before last, schools closed throughout the country. This initially came as a terrible shock to me, but over time I have got more and more used to it.
Everything is changing, and there is nothing I can do. Despite all the confusion, my school has been working to provide a home education system and I have been attending online classes on philosophy.
I am beginning to miss my friends, but we can talk to one another on the phone and online.
Changes to everyday life aside, we should think about how people can support each other in the community during these tough times. Like WW2, the Great Fire of London, and many other historical crises, working together is of the utmost importance. Therefore, we should respect each other’s differences and live as one big family, not just during the pandemic, but forever afterwards.
Though this pandemic can only be described as a disaster for the health service and the economy, it does have its positive side effects.
Due to all flights being cancelled and very few cars on the road, very little pollution has been created. People will hopefully learn over this period that much less travel is needed to work than previously thought. Also, these times will undoubtedly cause significant changes in how offices and schools are run, and one day physical buildings for work and education may be abolished entirely, leaving more space for housing and parks.
Overall, this is a period which despite being a catastrophe in the short term, will make many great changes to how the world works.
