Hope is

2021

A newspaper made during the third UK lockdown in early 2021, because we all need some hope in our lives right now.

We wanted to make a newspaper filled with hope, with and for people in our local area, Tower Hamlets in East London.

We spent a few days out on the streets with photographer Shingi Rice, talking to local people about how they’ve been during lockdown, and what’s giving them hope. The newspaper features pictures and words from 30 of the people we spoke to.

The newspaper’s free and will be distributed to thousands of homes, cafes, laundrettes and other places across Tower Hamlets. We’re also running a poster campaign, with messages of hope appearing on walls, buildings and hoardings across the borough.

Where can we find hope?

It’s a weird year to start making your dream come true, but at the same time it makes it kind of special.
